Micha Prinsen

painting - sculpture

My name is Micha Prinsen and I mainly make sculptures and wall objects that have a painting-like quality. I draw a lot of inspiration from the man-made world of the urban environment. This can be either a neatly designed parking lot or a messy construction site. In my work I am concerned with the relationship between form and function. For example, I have investigated this in the DIY manufacturing industry of cartuning culture. By using the techniques and materials and adapting them to my own taste. I like to experiment with different materials and am interested in the meaning or functions we give to certain materials. My works can be both a carrier of a concept and a materialistic representation of it.
