Nina Markus

drawing - writing - media - audiovisual

In her work Nina tries to investigate what is not there. The movements in the animations create a world that can be walked through, in which people discover and surprise. Sometimes it is about visualizing an abstract concept, at other times it is about making frustration tangible.
The worlds are black and white in order not to distract or manipulate the viewer but to show the naked truth.
An important aspect of Nina's work is that it is always made by hand. There is little or no computer involved. Particularly in a world that is currently marked by digital developments, she wants to stay close to the material she got to know as a child. Fineliners, charcoal, erasers, paper; she doesn't need any more to create the stories.
