Noel Deelen

conceptual

Noël Deelen (NL, 1984) is a multidisciplinary artist who playfully manipulates materials in the outdoor space, audiovisually and on canvas. In his visual language he adds new layers to existing representations of known images. The constant research into material and color is an inseparable part of his work, through which his workflow, movement and energy, make the art.
Its starting point is our childish fantasy, free from adult thoughts and ingrained ideas.
Fantasy is an important part of our development. We use it to create visual images in our heads, coming up with ideas without having to take into account the boundaries of the 'real' world. It stimulates our problem-solving capacity and helps to see situations from a different perspective; the basics of Noël's workflow.

Flowers

Exhibition / presentation

  • 01-08-2021 t/m 19-08-2021
  • In collaboration with: Kunstuitleen Rotterdam
  • Location: Goudsesingel, Rotterdam
  • Noël Deelen's new series Flowers consists of graphic collages, with a childlike slant due to their unambiguously recognizable visual language. Shown on canvases, vases and plaques, cast from epoxy. The basis for these collages is a combination of spray cans and acrylic paint, over which a paper image is placed. Unlike previous work, the undertone is now not only cartoonish and light-hearted, but has a dark twist.
