Rosa Peters

Paint

Rosa Peters is a visual artist who lives and works in Rotterdam. Her work is often linked to early memories, in particular to her native village in Portugal and to architecture and spaces from her early childhood. She works from an irrepressible need to relive these locations, which takes shape each time in a different way and in a new guise. The subjective experience of a memory ultimately determines the work she makes; how do you experience the space, the size, the location, the climate, the history of a place if you are not there at that moment. She depicts, as it were, a parallel universe that can come to her mind in everyday moments.
In this way she wants to give added value to those moments. She approaches this from a philosophy, geography and architecture perspective. Her preferred medium is oil paint, with which she translates her inspiration into abstract color areas with a strong depth effect and layering, which is created by stacking many (semi) transparent layers.
