sculpture - digital technology - installation - media - science & technology

By using digital technology such as smart-phones, we circumvent the limitations of our body. Technology allows us to always be connected with each other and the world around us. All conceivable information is accessible and retrievable. But incorporating technology into everyday life is an interaction, I use my equipment but my equipment is also using me. A circuit has developed between me and the devices I use. My artistic practice is driven by a great interest in technological mechanisms and its impact on the life of the individual and society. How are we in touch with the world around us? How do these means influence us, rewiring our understanding of our bodies, minds and environments? I use laser-cutting, 3d-scanning/ printing as well as traditional woodwork/ sculpting techniques. Tools allow for different ways of thinking and through them I explore the area where digital and manual labor flow into each other.
