Sandro Setola

installation - drawing - sculpting - video - documentary

My work can always be reduced to a fascination for certain natural phenomena or processes: death and growth, expansion and isolation, metamorphosis and crystallization, these are frequently recurring motifs. Architecture is a connecting visual element. She places the associations that the works sometimes evoke with architectural proposals in a twilight zone between wish and reality that raises questions about their function or meaning. On the one hand, these proposals can be seen as a commentary on our everyday and urban environment in that they seem to aim to express feelings of discomfort, spirituality or a lack of ideology or function. In other works architecture undergoes a transformation that thus forms a parallel with a mental process or is a reflection of a state of mind or personality.
