human - sculpture

The images weave their way through the web of existential contemporary dilemmas. They move in small families along the boundaries of genders, ages, (sub)cultures and species and want to bridge the gap between cultivated reality and deeper intuitive and instinctive layers.

togetherness

Exhibition / presentation

  • 26-11-2022 t/m 12-03-2023
  • Location: The Kunstgemaal, Bronkhorst
  • Curated by the amazing Anya Janssen – celebrating friendship with this show. She is a great fan of the artists invited and I am lucky to be one of them! Nice to have Eden's Expansion on show again, she has only once been on show in the Museum Rijswijk. Especially for that exhibition, Food for Thought, I made her. My first chubby hybrid who, in her mermaid look, contemplates all the wildfires, floods, diets and more depressing news before she goes to the party anyway.

Wild Summer of Art

Exhibition / presentation

  • 05-08-2022 t/m 04-09-2022
  • Location: BRUTUS, Rotterdam
  • 100 Rotterdam based artists were chosen, 80 for Part I, 100 for part II – with a little help from a number of scouts, like me :) who all proposed 20 names. Nice move, because this way it might be a better reflection of what's going on in the city. My sculptures are in good company in the last giant hall, called the Cathedral. Against the backdrop of the impressive old and grubby high walls, they look good: extremely young, hopeful, clean, naked and vulnerable.

  • Location: An Art Center, Rotterdam-Charlois
  • A short multidisciplinary event with dance, music, light, sculptures and paintings, created in cooperation with painter/architect Caroline Bijvoet and dancer Yanaika Holle. Worlding, the title of this project, comes from Donna Haraway, biologist, philosopher and science historian, for whom the term means that the world and it's creatures should not be seen as separate stories, but as each others context in which all are constantly developing with each other.

Poets and visual artists, young and established artists, works of art from Belgium and abroad settle down and form a special arts trail. The interaction between those surprising, nostalgic spaces with contemporary visual art and poetry always creates a unique experience. Crescendo is on show in a very, very small room in the former monastery.

Stage of Being

Exhibition / presentation

  • 09-12-2018 t/m 20-01-2019
  • Location: Museum Voorlinden, Wassenaar
  • Artists in particular dare to face down the fundamental questions of existence. In fact: the very essence of art might be found in diffusing that existential, human fear. Art can hold up a mirror to mankind. This mirror is sometimes quite direct, raw and confrontational. And sometimes indirectly, enshrouded in layers of meaning.
