We are the artist duo Touw van Eck, or Suus Touw and Anne van Eck. We make objects, drawings and photos. Work in which we can express our love for simplicity and craftsmanship. For us, collaboration mainly means opening up and taking a closer look. It is a search together for the essence, where the turning point is from looking and losing yourself, when the image rises above the idea and a transformation occurs.
The work is like a constant questioning of form, volume or lines. These evoke associations, question marks or are an interplay of elements that together form something new. Nothing is superfluous. It is about the simple form and how the image can achieve the fullness of its expression. Everything is reduced to the core.
An important part of our work is reviving previously made work. Curious about other possibilities, about other solutions, in technique, form and content of the work, side tracks develop.
