Vivian Ammerlaan

In an age where the entire world has been meticulously charted and mapped, I find myself drawn to the remote and the unexplored. How can one capture the essence of these untouched and uncharted landscapes without physically venturing into them?

Brabant New

Exhibition / presentation

  • 21-01-2023 t/m 14-05-2023
  • Location: The Noordbrabants Museum, 's-Hertogenbosch
  • The work of Vivian Ammerlaan (De Lier, 1994) is a personal quest to depict the sublime: the feeling of awe and horror. It is about everything that cannot be captured in words or images, because it is of enormous and immortal beauty and at the same time frightening. Ammerlaan is inspired by overwhelming landscapes and nature. She works with digital and analog photography, and sometimes also with video and installations.

The landscape I know

Exhibition / presentation

  • 12-09-2021 t/m 13-02-2022
  • In collaboration with: iCOON
  • Location: iCOON , Hook of Holland
  • Over the past year and a half, Vivian Ammerlaan has been looking for the depiction of the sea, which now comes together in the series 'The landscape that I know'. Because memories of and experiences in this place vary widely, Ammerlaan has made images from different angles and experimented with techniques. The result is a collection of about 50 works that deal with calmness, beauty and simplicity, as well as mystery and fear.
