Studio Art Office | Zo doe je dat #3: je artistieke plannen realiseren

On Tuesday April 9, Studio Art Office organizes in collaboration with Business Station WdKA Here's how you do it #3. During this edition we will discuss the three schemes that Art Office offers: the scheme Impulse & Deepening (I&V) of Practical contribution and the interest-free loan CBK Fonds Kwadraat. The afternoon is intended for WdKA students and visual artists from the city.

After a brief explanation of the difference between the schemes, we give the floor to two experienced experts, who share inspiring practical examples. They talk about their project and underlying motivation, how they approached the application, what they encountered and what it has brought them. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to ask questions and chat.

Laura Grimm received a Practice Contribution for Virgin Wool; a large and colorful sculpture made of natural wool, willow wicker and construction waste. Grimm obtained unprocessed wool from a Rotterdam sheepherder to clean, process and dye with natural materials. She made a large felt hood from the wool, which is supported by a curved frame of willow wicker. The six legs of the frame consist of fragments left over after a home renovation. The sculpture was part of the experimental group exhibition 'W2023 hosts…' in October 139 in the W139 presentation space in Amsterdam.

Johannes Langkamp received an R&D (I&V scheme from March 2024) for The meta-work process. To this end, Langkamp focused on material and instrument research for a year to further elevate his work process to a work of art. The experiments he carried out formed a goal in themselves and thus referred to themselves: a meta-work process. He investigated how material influences his thoughts. Can he make this influence visible in his art? Can he let a sculpture do its own thing, and let an experiment determine the outcome? Langkamp organized his meta-work process project in such a way that he, as a thinking maker (or making thinker), was given room for experimenting and failing.
