projects with a public character

Grant for Artistic Practice

> In the months of July and August it is not possible to apply for a Practice Contribution due to the summer break.

Purpose

The Grant for Artistic Practice provides artists with a fee to realise projects of a public nature and to strengthen their professional practice. In this way, this grant demonstrates Art Office's commitment to the Fair Practice Code.

For who?

This grant is for Rotterdam-based artists. Applications can only be made by individuals who:

For what?

Applications can be made for local, regional and (inter)national projects of a public nature and should significantly build upon the artist's professional practice. Projects may include presentations in non-commercial and public spaces, and at events. Projects in collaboration with one or more other parties are preferred. The project start date must be later than the application submission date.

Maximum contribution

€ 2.500. The contribution is intended as a fee for the artist. The amount of the fee depends on the nature of the project to be carried out and will be assessed in this context. When several artists participate in the same project, each artist submits an individual application for its own fee.

Procedure

The application is made through the artist's Art Office account. After sending the form, the applicant will receive an email confirmation of receipt. A maximum of one application can be made per artist each time. Submissions will be reviewed by one or more external advisors, who will assess the applications based on the following criteria:

  • Artistic-content quality;
  • Public outreach and impact of the project;
  • Time investment of the artist;
  • Feasibility;
  • Updated artist page on artoffice.info

CBK Rotterdam will process applications as quickly as possible, in the order that they are received. The turnover time will depend on the number of applications received at any given time, though we strive to respond within four weeks. The applicant will be notified should it take longer than this.

Applications may be submitted on a continuous basis, with the exception of a summer period (dates to be announced). CBK Rotterdam considers recommendations given by external advisors and announces the final decision to the applicant by email.

  • The scheme runs for as long as there is a budget available.
  • A maximum of two applications can be made per artist per year.
  • There is no appeals procedure.

Report

The applicant must submit a project report to Art Office within two weeks of the completion date. The conditions can be found in the acceptance letter.

Important!

It is not possible to receive both Artistic Practice and O&O grants simultaneously. If you already have a CBK application or project underway, our system will not enable access to the grant application form.

The Grant for Artistic Practice regulations state that no application can be made for activities at venues with a budget for artists' fees. This includes Rotterdam-based organizations that are due to receive a BKV budget intended for Rotterdam artists’ fees during the ‘Cultuurplan’ period of 2021-2024*.
