By drawing, I try to find ground in the ambiguous reality that surrounds me. I image the complexness of life and detailed impressions that are close to me, with drawings and monotypes.

In drawing, a connection is made between images and emotions. In that process I explore a wider area, giving space to opposing forces that may coexist together: holding vs. releasing, beauty vs. horror, dream vs. reality. With my work I try to do justice to that complexity of life.

    • Facing2020ties

    Project

    • In samenwerking met: Martijn te Winkel
    • Locatie: Rotterdam, Rotterdam
    • Martijn te Winkel en Astrid de Pauw werkte voor het eerst samen in 2017 onder de titel Drawing Room. In 2020 zette zij deze samenwerking voort, met als resultaat een groot drieluik: The Soothing Self. De voorgenomen continuering van de samenwerking kreeg een andere invulling door de Corona crisis. Maar gesteund door het CBK Rotterdam konden de kunstenaars hun werk op een andere manier invullen en werken zijn nu aan een nieuw achtluik onder de titel Facing2020ties.

    • In samenwerking met: Esther Schoonhoven
    • Locatie: Wisselend, Rotterdam
    • Y/OUR GALLERY organiseert exposities op wisselende locaties bij mensen thuis. Passend bij de specifieke ruimte van een host wordt het werk van een kunstenaar getoond en toegelicht met lezingen en optredens. Natuurlijk met een feestelijke opening en afsluiting.
