Since 2010 Philipp Schwalb has experimented and interrogated the animation of color and figuration in Bild, its communications, conditions, impacts and frameworks. With practices like Painting as kommunikative Einrichtung, MnemosynePictureAtlas, Bilder_commons, Image-Constellation-Panels and Artlanguages ​​= social figurations he translates personal stories as well as social-artistic questions in, on and out of Bilder, their transformation processes, their contained details and their active complexes. In 2011 initiated a research project on Aby Warburg's Mnemosyne Atlas. Until 2016, he co-edited the entire Mnemosyne Atlas and organized a research group, exhibitions and events around it. From 2017 to 2019 he was a visiting professor for painting at the Haute Ecole d'art et Design in Geneva. From 2020 until now, he has been organizing the MnemosyneAtlas-Lab. He exhibited or curated among others at:Frac Lorraine, Kunsthalle Marcel Duchamp, Kunsthalle Basel, ZKM Karlsruhe, Kirchgasse, Villa Romana, New Toni, David Castillo (Miami).
