A lifelong state of migration has given me a deep longing and belonging to a place. This has shaped me both as a person, and as a contemporary artist and painter.

I want to take root— and have the freedom that comes with taking off and letting go. I suppose it’s what unites all species on earth; the great migrational patterns so essential to survival and renewal?

I want nothing more than to stand in visceral communion with the fundamental forces of nature, while working with deliberate abandon. This is what gets me beyond mere depiction and into something that feels real.

My ongoing challenge is to be able to hold the structure of the space through metaphor— and capture the monumental movement of life through the materiality of the paint.

Mostly, I want to share a sense of the beauty and the sublime that is always present “out there” and within.

Residency, Exhibition and Artist Talks

Residenties / uitwisseling

  • 01-09-2019 t/m 30-09-2019
  • In samenwerking met: Ballinglen Arts Foundation
  • Locatie: North County Mayo, Ballycastle
  • Solo exhibition at the BAF Gallery in 2019. The exhibition represented painting journeys made during four residencies, over a period of five years. I held artist talks in the gallery for local artists, visiting regional and international artists; and shared my experiences and creative processes during a printmaking workshop provided by another artist-in-residence. During Ireland’s Annual Cultural Night, I read poetry and excerpts from literary works that accompanied my paintings.
