Saïd Kinos

Saïd Kinos’ work expresses a fascination for the way people communicate with each other. Through a background in graffiti and a bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Saïd developed a strong passion for typography and other visual forms of communication. Saïd’s latest body of work can be considered as an exploration of language through form and colour. The primary function of language is to convey specific meaning, therefore making it almost the exact opposite of abstraction. However, a large part of the inherent meaning of a word or sentence is derived from the context that the language is originally placed in.

When taken out of its original frame of reference, certain pieces of language can become open to interpretation through association and the mood of the viewer and therefore transforming into a form of abstraction. The juxtaposition between this inherent meaning and subjectivity in language is where the current interest of Said's practice lies.
