Tarona has dedicated her career to exploring the complexities of identity and in creating a space for the Black diaspora to cultivate a new way of knowing and being. Through her work, Tarona examines the nuances of identity and what it means to belong to multiple racial and cultural backgrounds, spanning continents. She is deeply invested in exploring the implications of this for current and future generations' collective identity, offering herself and others permission to be themselves. Her work is centered within the liminal, the passages, the in-between. Tarona has come to understand that this is what defines her as an individual and has been consistently present in her work, even before she was aware of it. Her exploration of the self spans multiple mediums and forms of expression, and this hybrid flux is at the heart of her work, her life, and her way of thinking. She remains committed to exploring the intersections of identity, culture and creativity.
