Vanda Vlašičová

artistiek onderzoek - installatie - keramiek - sculptuur - tekenen

Vanda is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice facilitates entrances to worlds parallel to our own. Working in a meditative trance of escapism, her work is playful, childlike and shamelessly feminine, usually oscillating around the themes of personal nostalgia, mythology and fantastical biomimicry. Using combinations of various media, she creates a peaceful oasis and invites the viewer for a stroll in a place where the current world cannot reach them.

Vanda is a Slovak artist who lives and works in Rotterdam, NL. She graduated BA Fashion Design in Willem de Kooning Academy in 2023.

Magical Vessels - Collection of ambiguous vessels made from clay reclaimed and stained by the artist. Glazed earthenware, waterproofed with epoxy resin. Inspired by the rites of paganism where magic requires all four elements to work, these vessels are perceived as magic themselves - earth as a material, water to mold it to shape, air as a drying element and fire for them to remain in shape. The change of the colour of clay after firing is seen as a part of this magic manifesting itself. As nature gives strength to magic, all of these vessels are made utilising biomorphic shapes, encouraging the owner to think about and participate in the flower arrangements within them.
Unripe tulip vessel - addition to the ever-growing magical vessels, 2024. a combination of reclaimed yellow and green clay, pigmented by Vanda in her studio.
