Efrat Zehavi

diversiteit - installatie - community - sculptuur - figuratief

Rotterdam-based visual artist and writer Efrat Zehavi (1974, Haifa) is an avid collector of portraits, mythological imagery and personal stories. She is known for the plasticine portraits that she models on the spot at public locations. Her art projects focus on audience participation. Encounters and conversations with strangers serve as inspiration for her sculptures, staged photos, collages and short stories. The main themes Zehavi addresses in her work are origin, family and migration. She combines image and text in installations, animations and books. Zehavi’s latest interactive performance and installation mOTHER was shown at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, but she considers cafés, libraries and festivals as equally important exhibition spaces.
