Rowan van As has a DIY way of working with images that lie dormant in the collective memory. Might be a remarkable logo, a blurry image on an old tv, or whatever catches his eye for the trashy side of the culture during a walk at the market or the Kruiskade in Rotterdam. Rowan loosely remixes these images with an expressive bit of fantasy, resulting in sculptures, drawings, collages, or pieces of clothing.
